Office Survival

How To: Office Mochachino

Don’t you hate it when it gets snowy and nasty out and you’re too lazy and cheap to go to Fivebucks for a that mochachino you’re craving? If your office supplies you with a variety of cheap coffee products you can make your own highly sweetened and highly caffinated hot beverage right without having to find your gloves and begging your cube-mates for spare change.

Ingredients:

  • 1 packet instant hot cocoa (with marshmellows pref’d)
  • 2 Keurig Brand Individual Coffee Cups (or similar cheap single serving coffee solution)
  • 1 tablespoon half and half
  • 2 coffee mugs or cups
  • lid for cup or mug

First, empty the packet of cocoa in to the first cup and place it in the Keurig machine. Have your second (empty cup ready). The problem with these “office coffee solutions” is that they tend to make very weak coffee. The coffee brews for a few seconds, then they fill up the remaining volume with water. This is absolutely no good. You need a full strength bolt of caffine before you head back to your desk. Watch the coffee coming out. As soon as the liquid starts to run clear, quickly switch the first cup with the second cup. Then repeat with the second “serving” of coffee. Once you’ve successfully leached off that uncaffinated water into the second cup, you can discard it.

Now your should have a cup of almost passable coffee with partially dissolved hot cocoa in it. To finish your beverage, add the half & half to give your mochachino that extra creaminess, pop on the lid and shake the whole mixture to form a frothy foam on top. If you don’t have a lid you can stir your mixture vigorously for a similar effect.

Now you are ready to enjoy your hot, sicky sweet Office Mochachino (and in the process kill another six minutes in a very long, boring afternoon).

  2. Wow, Jon. Was this is today discovery, or have you been holding out on us? Also, your office has free hot chocolate? So jealous.
