Good News From PA
Nothing warms my heart more than the thoughts of Rove and Cheney in prison stripes. Except perhaps the news that wingnut number one, Rick Santorum is losing the Senate race in Pennsylvania. And losing big. It was always a mystery why otherwise moderate leaning PA would keep voting for a guy who compares homosexuals to pedophiles and blames the Catholic church sexual abuse scandals on the liberal lifestyles people lead in Boston. Turns out they are coming around. But even in the face of a 16 point deficit to Bob Casey Jr, Santorum doesn’t change his rhetoric:
The problem isn’t that Santorum is behind on the polls, it’s that he’s way behind on the polls and has done nothing to reverse course. Rather, his constant stream of outrageous statements and his wingnutty book has provided the Casey camp with mounds of solid attack ad material (like women shouldn’t go to college, shouldn’t work, etc). And he’s pushed a radical right-wing agenda more in tune with Oklahoma than Pennsylvania. There’s something to be said about representing your constituents, and Santorum does nothing of the sort.
Sounds like even the GOP is abandoning his sinking ship. There is along way until 2006, but things are looking good.

Ah! The thought of Santorum giving a concession speech in another year warms my heart. Let’s hope Casey doesn’t pull a Kerry.

Senator Rick got a shoutout from Bono last night in DC, what for is a bit fuzzy though. Had something to do with him being invovled in some bill to get AIDS medication to Africa. Wonder how that plays outs with his supporters, him being at U2 concert and all
Jon
Well thats just another reason for me to hate bono. That and the fact that he’s lunching with Bush these days.

Right or wrong, when trying to get something done it requires talking and dealing with all sides. Bono’s high profile gets him access to those most can’t get past the front door to talk to.
Jon
Agreed to a certain extent. But the timing of this thing smacks of pandering. Poll numbers in the shitter? Have lunch with a pop star and pretend like you’re going to help starving children. Besides,U2 sucks.
