Hour of Darkness

Friday, May 5th, 2006

Hours of Darkness, a gallery of urban and non-urban decay is quite beautiful, although a bit sad. Apparently the photographer, Amanda, died earlier this year of cancer. This fact makes the photos that much more poignant, and touching. The site features two sets of galleries, Night Photos and Modern Ruins, both of which are amazing.

Eastern State Penitentiary

Monday, May 1st, 2006

A reader sent me some photos for my Urban Decay obsession of rhte Eastern State Penitentiary which is utterly fascinating. Located in Philadelphia, the Eastern State Penitentiary operated for close to 150 years before being closed and left to rot in 1971. The images in this gallery are haunting and amazing. For whatever reason I [...]

Forgotten Detroit

Monday, August 1st, 2005

Here’s a nice Monday morning gallery of urban-decay: Forgotten Detroit. There are some really great gallaries of hotels and theaters. These rotting buildings that are of such a massive scale in the middle of town fascinate me.
